It's Oscar time! The envelope please...

I'm so excited to see all of the lovely nominees on the Red Carpet for this sunday's Oscars. While the gowns are always the most featured, the Makeup and Hair completes the picture. And if one thing doesnt work, it can throw off the entire look.

With Spring just around the corner, I'm sure there will be lots of color. Green is the color choice from Pantone for 2013. I'm sure Yellow and Red will also be very popular. But how do you coordinate your makeup with primary and secondary colors?

The Oscars is not like New York Fashion week or The Grammys, where makeup and hair can be very colorful and avante garde. Its actually much more conservative and viewers are always looking for the glamour of old Hollywood.

This season colored eyeshadows are very popular for Spring, so having a little purple or green eyeshadow as an ACCENT color works well.  Check out Urban Decay and Nars. Nail polish is a key ingredient when coordinating the look. If you want to add a bit of personality to your look, a pale yellow or pale green makes a great statement but isnt overpowering. Essie has great choices. For lips, Red is always a great choice, but make that your focus. Chanel, Dolce and Gabbana and Shiseido make fabulous red lipsticks. Eye makeup would be clean so not to compete with the lips. If choosing to focus more on the eye, then pale and glossy is a great choice for lips. Armani and Dior make great glosses.

Now I need to figure out what I'm going to wear......Better late than never!

Let me know your favorites and who you think needs my help!
